, Primary Category: Press Releases

SAN FRANCISCO, February 16, 2016 – Serving at-risk students comes with a different set of considerations for educators including distractions, fears and a lack of social emotional competence. All of these can be obstacles for students who are trying to learn and feel safe at school. In order to help educators provide students with the social emotional learning (SEL) skills they need to succeed in both school and life, PresenceLearning is hosting the second installment of their Spring 2016 webinar series, “Success for Every Learner: From At-Risk to Successful.” Being held on Thursday, March 24, 2016 at 10 AM Pacific, this webinar features world-renowned expert in social-emotional learning (SEL) Dr. Ed Dunkelblau. Dr. Dunkelblau’s 90-minute webinar “SEL: The Real Skills for Success!” will discuss why at-risk students need to be equipped with SEL skills and how these skills will empower at-risk students in schools.

About the “Success for Every Learner” webinar series

At-risk students are often labeled as problems as young as kindergarten and first grade. Is there more educators can do to help the most vulnerable student population? The “Success for Every Learner: From At-Risk to Successful” webinar series dives deeper into school climate and behavior issues by exploring the school-to-prison pipeline, analyzing how bias affects discipline and disciplinary measures, and discussing what needs to be done to break this cycle. Before Dr. Dunkelblau’s webinar, Dr. Frances Stetson, a leading special education and inclusion specialist, kicked off the series with her webinar on how to reduce the inappropriate identification of minority students for special education services. Dr. Ross Greene, a best-selling author, speaker and psychologist who originated the Collaborative Problem Solving (CPS) approach for students with serious challenges, will wrap up the series with his webinar on how his CPS approach can help reduce disciplinary issues for students with exceptional needs.

PresenceLearning is an approved provider of continuing education for both the American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA) and the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP). Attendance at these live webinars qualifies eligible members for continuing education units (CEUs) from ASHA or Continuing Professional Development (CPD) credit from NASP.
