New research continues to support the equivalence of tele-assessment
NEW YORK, July 28, 2020 – PresenceLearning, the leading provider of live online special education related services for K-12 schools, has contracted with Pearson’s Clinical Assessment group to make the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children®-Fifth Edition (WISC®–V) available for remote administration through PresenceLearning’s proprietary teletherapy platform for the 2020-2021 school year.
New research conducted by Dr. A. Jordan Wright, Clinical Assistant Professor of Counseling Psychology at NYU Steinhardt and a leading researcher on psychological assessment, demonstrated that live online administration of the WISC-V assessment by credentialed school psychologists utilizing a tele-assessment administration platform with specific features, such as PresenceLearning’s secure platform, is equivalent to traditional onsite administration.
“At PresenceLearning we continue to be at the forefront of innovation in tele-assessment, which has been critical to ensuring that students everywhere can be appropriately evaluated and identified for eligibility to special education programs. Pearson shares our belief in expanding access to assessments, and to taking a responsible, research-led approach. We are thrilled that in this time of particular need for remote assessment we are able to make available one of the most important assessments,” said PresenceLearning CEO Kate Eberle Walker.
“PresenceLearning has always been a partner on the forefront of research and innovation,” said Randy Trask, senior vice president at Pearson Clinical Assessment. “We first partnered with PresenceLearning years ago to make speech-language assessments available remotely. Now we are excited to make our most widely used cognitive assessment available for online administration through PresenceLearning’s platform.”
The WISC®–V can be administered by PresenceLearning’s network of school psychologists, or by school-based psychologists and qualified examiners over PresenceLearning’s teletherapy platform. PresenceLearning’s new professional development program, Tele-assessment 101, provides live online training on the remote administration of assessment.
