The three-part “Real School Climate Change” fall webinar series has featured expert advice on how to implement effective behavior interventions from behavior disorder expert Dr. Joe Ryan; presented an outline of practice alternatives to the controversial seclusion and restraint tactics, as well as out-of-school suspension tactics, from special education policy expert Dr. Daniel Crimmins; and now wraps up with an introduction to the SCERTS® (Social Communication, Emotional Regulation and Transactional Support) Model, including how it can positively impact social-emotional development for those students with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), by Dr. Barry Prizant, Ph.D., CCC-SLP, along with Emily Rubin, MS, CCC-SLP, and Amy Laurent, Ed.M, OTR/L.
