Of Byng Public Schools
Byng Public Schools turned to PresenceLearning in the 2016-17 school year as a cost-effective way to provide OT to its students with special needs. In the initial year, PresenceLearning, with the assistance of the district’s on-site paraprofessionals, delivered services to 35 students in grades K-10 via its secure, interactive video platform.
In addition to providing ongoing OT services, PresenceLearning helped properly assess students and, in some cases, dismiss them completely from OT. As a result, only 27 students are in need of OT services this school year.
Occupational therapists from PresenceLearning have engaged students online, particularly those with autism, and helped improve carryover to the classroom. The district’s partnership and collaboration resulted in Byng Public Schools being named a winner of PresenceLearning’s 4th annual Awards of Excellence.
