Oral language skills are the “core of the Core” — foundational to students’ ability to grasp the material in the new Common Core State Standards (CCSS).  As a result, Special Education leaders expect increased demand for Tier II interventions. But how can school districts address reading and social-skills deficiencies in light of budget cuts and other common core state standards challenges? Watch, listen, and read insightful discussions featuring a leading communications disorder expert on such topics including expanding role of the SLP in developing literacy and the implications of CCSS for Tier II interventions, examples of developmental interventions mapped to CCSS and how SLPs can help bridge social communications and academic skills gaps.
